Construction of Disciplines and Specialties


(1) provincial-level key disciplines
    Inorganic chemistry have been listed as the provincial-level key constructing disciplines of Yunnan during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, and it was formally listed as the provincial-level key disciplines in 2007. There are 13 faculty staff (4 professors, 4 associate professors) in this department and in whom one is the tutor of PHD, 7 possess post-doctoral or doctoral degrees. Inorganic chemistry department have one “Chinese Academy of Sciences Hundred Talents program”, one “State winners of special government allowances”, one “Provincial Middle-aged Academic and Technology Leaders”. At present, Inorganic chemistry department have three steady research directions: direction 1, solar photochemical energy conversion and basic research on application; direction 2, molecular-based phosphorescent metal composite optical functional materials; direction 3, inorganic solid materials and catalysis. More than 150 articles were published, among which 84 is indexed by SCI; also 6 patents have been applied and obtained. Moreover, they have achieved one Yunnan Provincial Natural Science second Award. acquired 10 National Natural Science Fund Project, 2 key projects in Yunnan Province, 25 provincial Fund ,one pre-special of major basic research from Ministry of science and Technology, one “973” sub-project, two vital research projects of the “National Natural Science Foundation of Western Energy Usage and Environmental Protection”.

(2) An senior discipline authorized Master's degree and five professional directions
    Our college has “Chemistry” discipline with master's degree authorization, we enroll masters including “Inorganic Chemistry”, “Analytical Chemistry”, “Organic Chemistry”, “Physical Chemistry”, “Polymer Chemistry and Physics” five professional directions of Master, and direction of “Applied Chemistry” and “Curriculum and Teaching Theory (The Direction of Chemistry Teaching Theory)”.

(3) Undergraduate Discipline
1, Chemistry
    The main trainings are to cultivate secondary school teacher who teach chemistry or personnel engage in chemical research, they will be awarded Bachelor of Science degree. The major of professional orientation courses include: Biochemistry, Organic Synthesis, Phytochemistry, Coordinated Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Electrochemistry, Fine Chemicals, Environmental Chemistry, Biochemical Separation, Chemical Synthesis Experiments, Chemical Composite Experiments and Design Experiments.
2, Applied Chemistry
    The main trainings are to cultivate Secondary specialized school,secondary school teachers on Applied Chemistry and the professional and technical research personnel on Applied Chemistry, then awarded them Bachelor of Science Degree. The major of professional orientation courses include: Solvent Extraction, Environmental Chemistry, Phytochemistry, Food Chemistry, Agricultural and Forest Product Processing Technology, Fertilizer and Pesticide, Medicinal chemistry, Fine Chemicals, Biochemistry, Biochemical Separation, Vocational Education and so on.
3, Science Education
    The main training is to cultivate all-around teachers who have modern educational concepts and advanced education skills, and adapted to social development and curriculum reform requirements, and can competent for the primary or secondary schools’ "science" courses teaching or high schools’ physics, chemistry, biology and other scientific courses teaching, they will be awarded bachelor's degree in education. Their key learning include chemistry, physics, biology and other aspects of the basic knowledge, basic skills and methods, through scientific thinking and scientific experiments training courses, their educational theory of learning and teaching practice exercise can form a relatively complete structure of natural science knowledge, ability and knowledge structure. Finally they might form a particular expertise in one of the following courses like chemistry, physics, biology and other disciplines; they will be familiar with learning educational laws and regulations, and have a good professional qualification of science and professional skills.
